Twenty-five things you may not know about me just by reading by blog..

one - I lotion my legs every night when I get out of the shower, and the lotion HAS to match the scent of the shower gel I've used

two - I won first place in my 6th grade talent show
three - I have 6 tattoos that I've never showcased on le blog. Maybe I'll do that soon..

four - When I was 10 years old, I auditioned for a Nike commercial at a talent agency
five - I am the most impatient person you'll ever meet. I want everything 5 minutes ago.

six - I have had laser hair removal

seven - I once ran into Troy Aikman, but was too busy talking with a friend to notice it was him until he was already gone

eight - Other than that, I've never met anyone famous

nine - I didn't start wearing contacts until I was 19 years old

ten - I made a quilt when I was a freshman in high school.. and now I can't for the life of me remember how to sew

eleven - I pee on average, once an hour

twelve - My hair is SUPER thin. So much so, that when it's in a ponytail my BFF calls it my "noodle" because that's exactly what it looks like!

thirteen - I don't remember the last time I logged in, but I still have a myspace account. I just can't delete it!

fourteen - I broke my collar bone when I was 15 months old

fifteen - My parents didn't divorce until my senior year of high school
sixteen - I am terrified of clowns, big dogs, horses and the dark

seventeen - I don't eat seafood, guacamole, tomatoes, beans, or peanuts

eighteen - but I'll eat a gas station hot dog any day of the week!

nineteen - I still have one living great grandparent. I call him "Pops"

twenty - I am of Italian and German descent

twenty one - I didn't have my first sip of alcohol until I was 17.. hey, that's late for a small town girl!

twenty two - I have a horrible fear that I'll be a bad mother one day

twenty three - I used to have my tongue pierced, but took it out when my dentist told me it was starting to chip the back of my front teeth

twenty four - I made straight A's all throughout school

twenty five - I have a passport, but have yet to use it

So, do y'all still love me even after I spilled my guts?!

Now, I know that not everyone likes this holiday, and that's okay.

I happen to love it. What's not to love about red & pink, flowers and chocolate? EXACTLY!

Just because you're single doesn't mean you can't enjoy this holiday. You don't have to have a man to have a good day of love!

Why not go out to dinner with your best friend? Treat your sibling(s) to a pedicure? Buy your mom a massage? Send your grandparent(s) flowers?

Anyone can be a valentine, so go out there and show someone how much you love them!

Okay, I'm not really sure what that song outburst was, but it sounded like the right thing to title this post. ;)

In the past almost 2 years since I've started blogging, I feel like I've written too many "about me" posts, but with gaining new followers and for the sake of linking up with Neels, I'm gonna write another one. ;)

I try to keep things very light-hearted here, but every now and then you'll see a serious post from me. I gotta keep y'all on your toes! ;)

Day {EIGHT} Love Myself (favorite feature, best quality, best personality trait, etc.)

My favorite physical feature about myself I'd have to say is my eyes. I have green eyes, and I just LOVE them. When I wear green, they stand out even more. :)

My favorite non-physical trait about myself, is that I truly care about people. Even strangers. I care about people's well-being and I want everyone to be "okay". I'd save everyone from their hurt in the world, if I could.

I also want to make everyone's day. I will go out of my way to hold open a door for a stranger, or compliment someone on their shoes/outfit. Anything to make someone smile or happy even just for a second makes me feel so good!

I asked Nate to tell me what one of his favorite things was about me, and he said that I am a good cook. ;) Smart guy! I have made him my guinea pig. I make him be the taste tester for any new recipe I try, so I guess I am doing something right!

Day {SEVEN} Love Blogging (why did you start, what posts are your favorite, why do you blog, etc.)

Back on a sunny summer day in June 2010, I was bored at work while working as a front desk receptionist. In between phone calls, I'd randomly surf the internet.

I came across the Day Zero project, where you can make a list of 101 things you want to accomplish in 1001 days. I found this fascinating, and decided to make a list of my own.

On the site, you can search other people's lists, and some people have their blogs listed on their profiles.

I'd never heard of "blogging" but I came across this blog, and thought, "So this blog is just like an online journal? I've been journaling for years.. I could TOTALLY do this myself!"

And there it started. I began this little blog right there and then.

I never intended for this blog to become anything at all, or for me to even make friends because of it. I didn't even know that was really possible at the beginning. But, it happened.

Blogging has become my most favorite and biggest hobby. I am always trying to find ways to improve my blogging/writing, and the friends I've made thru blogging are amazing.

Day {SIX} Love to be Creative - recipes, crafts, gifts, etc.

I'm one of those people who has an "inner creator". Meaning, I can dream up crafts to do ALL day long, but will rarely ever sit down and actually do them.

I think it all boils down to the fact that I am a perfectionist to the max, and incredibly impatient. Those 2 traits + crafts = disaster!

I have done a couple of crafts though, like the one time I made a wine corkboard. I also made a ribbon wreath this past Christmas.. resembled a little something like this..

Day {FIVE} Love My Girlfriends!

I am SO incredibly thankful for all my girlfriends! A girl can't go through life without at least one girl she can go to when she needs her. I'm lucky to have a few good girlfriends in my life!

First, my very best friend in the whole entire world. Jillian! She's more than my best friend, she's family. Another sister. I trust this girl with my life.

Next, my sister, Casey! Having a sister means you'll always have a best friend. I'm lucky to have one that I trust with everything.

Then, we have Stephanie, who is one of my oldest friends in the world. We've been close since we were 9 years old!

And last, but certainly not least - we have Neely & Kiley! These girls I was lucky enough to meet through blogging & they've made my life nothing short of a BLAST!

Day {THREE} Love My Outfit - Valentine's Day Outfits

I love getting all pretty for Valentine's Day, and I always try and incorporate red or pink into my outfit.

For some reason, I can't any pics of us from this past Valentine's Day, so you just get 2010 and 2009. :)

This was our very first V-day together in 2009. I know you can't really see my outfit, but it's a gray and black strapless dress. I think I wore red heels. I can't remember! :-/

Here we are before dinner, V-day 2010. I LOVE this dress, and got it on the cheap too, which is always the best.

After dinner, we came home and changed into jammies and had more wine. :)

Day {TWO} Love Telling This Bad Date Story - Worst Date Ever

Okay, so I've had quite a few bad dates in my lifetime. I mean, who hasn't right?

One in particular that comes to mind was a blind date. I believe it was my 2nd blind date I'd ever been on. Lesson learned!

I think I only agreed to it anyway because a friend was going with his friend, or something silly.

Anyway, the date didn't even start off all that way. We didn't "click", had zero chemistry, and nothing to talk about. But I figured I'd be nice and go along my merry way and finish the date like the nice girl I am.

We ended up at the movies, and the whole time during the movie he kept grabbing for my hand and all that awkward first date mess.

Eventually, he was all up in my personal bubble trying to make out with me. Keep in mind, I was around 16-17, so this is totally normal behavior. ;)

Buuuut, I wasn't digging this guy. Since I am a nice and polite girl, I simply said, "I'm trying to watch the movie, are you not interested in the movie?"

He YELLS, "What are you? Some kind of stupid prude lesbian?"

Whaaat. The. Hell did you just say to me?!

Nice girl Amber quickly left, and I just walked out. Never again was I going to be embarrassed in public like that!

Day {ONE} Loved This Date - Best Date Ever

I hate to get all corny/cheesy/mushy on y'all, but it's my blog and I do what I want. ;)

I LOVED mine and Nate's first date. It was so special and so US.

Of course, leading up to the actual date and walking in to meet him, I was going crazy with nerves. Once I got there though? All those nerves completely went away, and I immediately felt comfortable being on that date.

There were no awkward first date silences. The conversation flowed so smoothly. We never ran out of things to say and we kept each other laughing all night.

And? At the end of the night, I felt like I was on cloud 9. The next few days until I could see him again couldn't go by fast enough.

That my friends, is my opinion of a great first date! :)

The Nail Files #1

I've been meaning to, but each time I go to take a picture of my nails, they are a hot mess!

So, this week when I painted them I remembered to get a pic right afterwards. :)

This week I'm wearing a fun color that my best friend put in my stocking for Christmas this year.

Of course she picked it out because she liked it and couldn't wait to paint her own nails, but luckily her and I have the same taste in nail polish colors. ;)

Okay, so let's see if I can think of 11 fun facts about myself..
1. When using the restroom in public, I will always and ONLY use the first stall, closest to the door. Statistics show that this stall has the least germs because it's rarely used.

2. Clearly I'm a bit of a germophobe. I wash my hands A LOT, and sometimes I'll wash them and 10 minutes later even if I haven't touched anything, I feel the urge to wash them again. I can not stand for my hands to feel even the slightest bit dirty.

3. I don't own a pair of plain white socks. I do however own a ton of socks with funky designs on them. And, I only wear socks at work. Otherwise, I'm usually in flip flops.

4. I just love to cook and bake. It is a hidden dream of mine to one day own a bakery of my own.

5. One thing that drives me crazy is when time is left on the microwave. Is it that hard to either let it finish the time you typed in? Or, if you stop it before, all you've gotta do is press clear. Drives me nuts!

6. I am an impulse spender. When I see something that I want, if I have the money on me, I will get it without even thinking about what I actually need to use that money for. One of my worst habits.

7. I am only 4'10 1/2" which means I'm very close to being considered a legal midget, which also means I'm incredibly adorable.

8. I competed in spelling bees all throughout elementary school & junior high school. Need help on a word? I can probably spell it for you! ;)

9. I hit puberty way before any of my friends did in school, which meant I was embarrassed by my boobs. This lead me to walk around hunched over so no one could see them. FAIL.

10. Not much makes me more mad than being interrupted when I'm talking. I feel like that is only something children do, so it really irks me when an adult does it.

11. My wine rack in my kitchen is never empty. Did you expect any less of me? ;)

Ashlee's questions:
{ONE} What is your most embarrassing moment?
I am TOO embarrassed to admit to the MOST embarrassing one. So, I'll just talk about the second most embarrassing thing to happen to me. ;) In high school, I worked at Sonic. One night, at the end of my shift, I was doing dishes in the back. One of my co-workers came and "pants-ed" me, annnd I wasn't wearing any underwear. I do not know why, but I wasn't. Silly me, turns completely around to face the kitchen, where all the cooks were, to pull my pants back up. I about DIED.

{TWO} Favorite thing in your closet?
I'm going to have to go with my True Religion jeans. They are ridiculously comfortable, and I love that I can dress them up or wear them with a t-shirt. I'm also quite fond of my dress collection. :)

{THREE} Favorite blog post?
Just one? I have many, let's see. I told y'all how I met my boyfriend. I wrote a tribute to my dog brother. Annnd, I professed my undying love for Paula Deen.

{FOUR} If you could pick any car to have, what would it be?
Honestly, right now at this moment.. I REALLY badly want a Honda CR-V. I know that most people would say something outrageous like a Lamborghini or a Ferrari, but I'm a simple girl who just wants a classy SUV in her life.

{FIVE} One store that you can't go a week without shopping at?
Target. I have one within walking distance from my apartment, and I go there 3 times a week, at minimum. They have everything, and it's safe to say that I'm a little bit addicted. ;)

{SIX} What is your favorite kitchen tool?
It's a toss up between my fabulous red blender or my coffee maker. I'd die without that thing.

{SEVEN} If you had to wear one color for a month what color would you choose?
I should say a fun, bold color, but in all reality, it'd probably be black. If you look in my closet, almost everything is black, navy or dark gray. I just gravitate to those colors when I shop, I guess.

{EIGHT} What is your least favorite thing about flying?
Turbulence and layovers. Both equally suck.

{NINE} What is your current magazine of choice?
Gotta love People. Has all of the up to date celeb gossip, and it's a magazine that I feel I can trust the news that it offers. Plus, I'm obsessed with the crossword puzzles in the back.

{TEN} Do you follow celebrities on Twitter? If so, who is your favorite?
I follow a couple, but not a lot because they tend to only retweet people who are obsessed with them. That's annoying when my timeline is blown up with retweets!

{ELEVEN} What is your least favorite chore?
Mopping. I hate it, and to tell you the truth, I don't remember the last time I did it. Oops!

{ONE} What are your favorite boy and girl names?
Y'all don't be stealing these.. ;) For a girl: Jensen and for a boy: Braxen

{TWO} What is your dream job?
Pediatrician, but that's not gonna happen. So how about an RN or an NP?

{THREE} Do you use Twitter? If not, what the heck not? :)
Uh yeah I do. Self proclaimed addict!

{FOUR} If you could visit anywhere in the world right now, where would you go?
Europe. More specifically, Italy. I want to experience what my great grandparents did, and the amazing food and wine? Count me in!

{FIVE} Are you a mac or a PC?
A PC for now, but I'm hoping to invest in a macbook soon! :)

{SIX} How many speeding tickets have you gotten?
Just two. Which is two too many, in my opinion.

{SEVEN} Do you prefer the mountains or the beach?
The beach, for sure. I love the water and laying in the sun!

{EIGHT} What is your favorite snack?
Popcorn!!! Also, triscuits topped with cheese and pepperoni.

{NINE} What's your ideal date night?
How about I tell y'all typical Friday date night? We go to Buffalo Wild Wings and play trivia together. Then we come home, cuddle on the couch and watch a movie on Netflix. Perfection :)

{TEN} What's your favorite thing about blogging?
Definitely the friends I've made. I've never felt close to people I've never met before, but blogging is totally different. It doesn't even feel like I've never met y'all. :)

{ELEVEN} What do you do during your "me time"?
Read, paint my nails, treat myself to a pedi, or clean my apartment.

See above - Europe! :)

{TWO} What is your favorite blog?
There's no way I can pick just one. I love all of the blogs that I follow. You're all my favorites. :)

All time fave movie is The Breakfast Club. Such a classic!

{FOUR} What is your favorite book?
Either The Great Gatsby or Catcher in the Rye. LOVE.

{FIVE} If you could change anything about yourself, what would it be?
Physically - my teeth/smile. Mentally/emotionally - my anxiety.

{SIX} Do you have any pets? If so, what are they and what are their names?
I don't myself, no. BUT parents and sister do. My dad has a dog named Roxy, my sister has a dog named Hallie and 2 hamsters named Dallas and Dublin, and my mom and her boyfriend have a dog named Precious and a cat named Smudge. It's a zoo, all those animals! :)

{SEVEN} What is your favorite TV show?
Will & Grace, Friends, Grey's Anatomy and Nip/Tuck

{EIGHT} What is your absolute dream job?
See above - pediatrician. But I'll settle for a job as an RN in pediatrics instead. :)

{NINE} What store could you spend hours or more in?
Target, which happens on a weekly basis.

{TEN} Are you a morning person or night owl?
A little of both. I'm not a person who can fall asleep early, unless I'm sick, so I'm a night owl in that spectrum. And I don't like waking up early, but once I'm up and productive, I'm glad I'm up. Plus, sleeping in also makes the day go by so fast and I hate that.

{ELEVEN} What is your favorite skin care or make up product?
Skin care - Clinique moisturizer. The stuff is heaven sent. Make-up - MAC Graphblack Eyeliner.

New Year = New Goals

I've always made "resolutions" but typically make ones that are far-fetched or hard to attain.

I've already blogged about a few I had thought of off the top of my head.

This past weekend though, I really thought long and hard about what I want to accomplish for myself in the year 2012.

I want to..

Treat myself once a month. Whether it be a pedicure, a massage or a fancy bottle of wine. I work too hard to earn money just to pay my bills. I should be able to use the money I work for on myself every now and then too.

Start couponing. I spend enough money on random things that I need to be more cautious about sales/coupons that are floating around the internet.

Stop being so judgemental. I hate to admit it, but I am a judger. I want to be nicer and not form my own "opinions" about people I don't even know all that well.

Cut back on fast food. It's way too easy to drive thru and grab something instead of going home to cook. Accomplishing this goal means I'll save money and lose a few pounds, maybe.

Take better care of myself. Each year, the closer I get to 30, the more aware I am of my body. I want to exercise more, even if it's just a 30 minute walk around the complex. I need to get more into the habit of washing my face every night and taking better care of my skin.

Take a vacation with Nate. Don't get me wrong, we've seen plenty of fun things together as a couple. BUT anytime we've gone somewhere, it's been to see family or attend a wedding. I want a vacation where we have nothing to worry about but having fun together and laying by the pool with drinks in hand.

Get my anxiety under control. If you know me, you most likely know I suffer from anxiety. I have a problem with letting it take over me at times. I need to learn how to manage it better and enjoy life instead of worrying so much about it.

I feel like this year, these are more attainable goals. I CAN do these. And, as my bloggy friends, I want you all to hold me accountable. :)

Hey y'all! Christmas may be over, but the celebration doesn't stop in my family. Today is my dad's 60th birthday!I wanted to dedicate a post just to him to wish him the happiest of all birthdays!

As a kid, my dad said his birthday kinda got over-shadowed by Christmas. Because of that, my little sister and I have always made it a point to make him feel super special on his day. We buy him gifts that he has to wait until his actual birthday to open, NOT on Christmas morning. We also decorate his house and take him to lunch or dinner.

So again, Happy Birthday Daddio! I hope your 60th is your best year yet!! Love you!

In my opinion, this book was VERY sweet. The characters were lovable as always, and I really found myself rooting for Emma and hoping she found her happy ever after. Nora Roberts hasn't let me down yet, so I'm going to finish out the series.

Christmas Quiz!

In the spirit of Christmas being less than one week away...

I've seen this floating around the blog world, both on Kristine and Erin's blogs. Love those girls, so I jacked it for myself. ;)

1. Eggnog or hot chocolate?
I like both. I usually just drink hot chocolate though. I do love me some eggnog though.

2. Does Santa wrap presents or just set them under the tree?
Santa definitely wraps it all! With the help of his colorful elves of course.

3. Colored lights on tree/house or white?
Growing up, we always had colored lights. Now we usually do white. THANK GOD.

4. Do you hang mistletoe?
I did this year. It's not real, but it still counts if you want to get some sugar ;)

5. When do you put your decorations up?
Usually the day after Thanksgiving, but this year it wasn't until last weekend. Oops!

6. What is your favorite holiday dish?
I'm all about the ham and mashed potatoes!

7. Favorite holiday memory as a child?
My little sister and I would always leave Santa milk, cookies, a little note and an extra gift. He would ALWAYS write a note back to us, and we loved waking up in the morning to see the empty plate and read his note. :)

8. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa?
Casey and I had heard some kids talking about it at school, but of course we wouldn't believe anything until we heard it from our mom. We came home to ask her if Santa was real. She said, "Of course he is!" We told her we'd heard otherwise and wanted to know why people would say that. She said, "Do you want the real truth?" Um, yeah of course. "No girls, Santa isn't real. Your dad and I put those presents under the tree for you." Oh. My. God. Talk about traumatizing! We threw fits and cried and cried. We even called our Nana and she got onto my mom for telling us, HA!

9. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve?
We always did as kids, and it was always Christmas PJs to wear that night. :)

10. How do you decorate your Christmas tree?
It's a whole random mess of ornaments. We have ones that we made in school as kids, we have one from our 1st Christmas that our grandparents had made. They're all different and don't really match, but they all have meaning. :)

11. Snow! Love it or dread it?
I live in Texas, so we don't typically get a white Christmas. It is a pleasant surprise though when we do.

12. Can you ice skate?
I can't skate, period. Plus, I'm scared of ice skating because when my mom was a kid, she fell on her knees and sat back on her legs and the blade went into her leg. That story scared me enough!

13. Do you remember your favorite gift?
I've had plenty of amazing gifts. My friends and family always know just what to get me. :)

14. What’s the most important thing about the holidays for you?
Being with family and participating in traditions. It makes me so happy.

15. What is your favorite holiday dessert?
Pumpkin pie, of course!

16. What is your favorite holiday tradition?
Waking up SUPER early in the morning, not even getting out of PJs and all gathering around the tree while my dad plays Santa and passes out our gifts, but not without opening our stockings first!

17. What tops your tree?
Growing up it was always this star that had garland and lights on it. So wonderfully tacky.

18. Which do you prefer: giving or receiving?
I LOVE giving. I get a little carried away and buy too many presents sometimes, but I love seeing people's reactions as they open what I got for them.

19. Candy canes: yuck or yum?
Ehhh, mainly yuck. I hate how sticky they get. Gross.

20. Favorite Christmas show?
Christmas movie? I love them all. I've been watching a lot of Elf this year. :)

21. Saddest Christmas song?
Christmas Shoes, for real. Look it up.

22. What’s your favorite Christmas song?
Hands down, All I Want for Christmas is You. Santa Baby runs a close second.

Day {TEN} - NYE memories/pictures

The first year Nate and I were together, we went with some friends downtown to Victory Park and celebrated with the rest of Dallas, ha! That's what it felt like anyway.

The next year, we met up with his parents at a wine bar in Grapevine that was having a NYE party. It was a lot of fun! His parents are such a good time.

Day {NINE} - 2012 goals/resolutions

I can almost guarantee that mine are pretty similar to the rest of yours. I always make resolutions because I like setting goals for myself, but I don't keep them often. :-/ I'm not afraid to admit that I'm a procrastinator (see: slacker) and then I realize how much time has past, and then I just quit sometimes. It's frustrating.

However, I'm still giving myself goals for the year 2012!

*Eat healthier, lose 30 pounds, and get in SHAPE!
*Finish my pre-reqs so I can apply for the nursing program in January 2013
*Stay more calm and get my anxiety under control
*Take a few road trips
*Be more thankful for the little things each day
*Learn to be more patient with everything in life
*Be better at keeping in touch with family and friends
*Build my savings account back up
*Do my hair/makeup more often

Day {SEVEN} - How do you celebrate the holidays? Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, etc.

We have always celebrated Christmas. Typical, traditional Christmas. Ever since I was little.

I will say though, that when I was younger I always said I wanted to be Jewish so that way I could celebrate Hanukkah. I never thought it was fair that we didn't get 7 days of presents, haha!

Now, I understand that everyone has their own way of celebrating, and it's not about the presents. Don't get me wrong, I love giving and receiving gifts, but being with family is the best gift I could get!

Nail Polish Swap Reveal

Day {SIX} - Christmas dessert/treat recipe

Okay, so for Thanksgiving I agreed to make an apple pie to bring to my family's dinner. While looking up recipes, I found that it was harder than it seemed, and I had gotten in over my head. I didn't want to buy a dessert, I wanted to make it.

A patient at work had brought "Apple Dumplings" a couple weeks earlier and made us copies of the recipe.. so that's what I made!

Apple Dumplings

Ingredients:
1 granny smith apple, peeled and cored
1 can of (8) crescent rolls
1 cup of sugar
1 stick of butter
Splash of vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
Cinnamon
4 oz of sprite

Directions:
Roll out the crescent rolls and put a slice of apple onto each one. Roll them back up and place them into an 8X8 inch pan seam down. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Over low heat, melt the stick of butter then pour in the sugar. Stir together and put your vanilla and salt in. Stir together. Pour over crescent rolls in pan. Pour sprite over the crescent rolls next. Bake for 30 at 350 degrees. Let sit for 45-60 minutes after taking out of the oven in order for the rolls to absorb the liquid.

This was super easy and super yummy! Let me know if you make it, and how your family likes it. :)

..to be asking for a new laptop for Christmas, now it's infected with viruses, and I think it's just trying to die on me

..to think leftovers usually taste better than the first time you ate it

..to shop at TJ Maxx for some Christmas gifts because they have layaway

..to whine like a baby when new shoes give you blisters on your feet

..to have a cup of coffee while getting ready for work, then make your to-go cup :) - there's no such thing as too much coffee!

..to feel super accomplished in life when you have a spic-n-span kitchen

..to not mind doing laundry, unless it's towels. ugh, bane of my existence!

..to be saying "hallelujer!" (that's for you Ash!) that the semester is almost over

..to regret telling a co-worker you'll help them make a wreath

..to sometimes wish your job required you to dress up. I miss "business professional" dress code sometimes.

..to still have your Macy's $20 gift card you got from Klout Perks.. can't decide what to buy!

..to have insecurities and be unable to hide them sometimes

Day {THREE} - Holiday decorations/decor

I don't go as "all out" as I would like because I live alone in a tiny apartment, so to me it's just not as much fun.

When I get married and have a bigger place, I'd like to think that I'll do it up big. :)

Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and I love seeing all the decor.

I did snag some sparkly red and silver ornaments from Target last year after the holidays on major clearance. And since I don't put up a tree in my place, I'd like to find some cheap apothecary jars and put them in. Something like this..

Day {TWO} - Fave holiday tradition, new or old

We don't really do this as much anymore since we're not kids anymore, but when we were little, we were always allowed to open one gift from our parents on Christmas Eve. It was always Christmas PJs to wear to bed that night. :)

We were also allowed to open one "small" gift which was usually something we had gotten each other.

Now that I'm older, the main tradition we have is we always open our stockings first, all together. Then dad plays "Santa" and passes out the presents. My little sister and I open ours together, then mom and dad open theirs after us.

At Nate's place, his mom always makes Swedish meatballs on Christmas Eve night. So that's the tradition there that I have been able to participate in.

I love traditions because it gives you something to look forward to. :) I can't wait to begin my own traditions with my family and children someday!

Okay, so this is going to sound totally superficial, but last year Nate got me a metallic red (my fave color) CHI flat iron.
I had been wanting one forever because all I'd ever had was crappy, cheap straighteners. When I opened the gift, I literally screamed like a little girl, and didn't really care about my other gifts, haha!

Sooo, I know that's not super exciting, but when a gift makes me forget what else I got that year, I'd say it was one of the best ones I got! ;)

Today, I'm sharing the 1st book in the Bridal Quartet series by Nora Roberts.

I read this about a year ago, but I'm just now getting around to reading the 2nd book, so I thought why not go ahead and review the first one?! :)

This book was amazing. I finished it in a few days. Very romantic, passionate and funny all at the same time. Nora makes it very easy to fall in love with these characters!

Thankful for the special people in my life

I'm THANKful for the special people in my life.

My parents - I may be biased, but I truly have the most awesome set of parents that any girl could ask for! They've always been 100% supportive.

My sweet grandparents - They're the epitome of true love, and I can only hope one day to have what they have. They love spoiling me, and I'll always be the favorite because I'm the first born. ;)

My siblings (Alyssha not pictured) - I know that they would do anything for me at the drop of a hat. The best thing about having siblings is that you have friends for life.

Nate's family - Never in my life have I felt more "at home" with people that weren't blood related to me. They've been so amazing these past 3 years. I was certainly blessed when I started dating Nate.

Nate - The love of my life and my better half. He truly makes me a better person! Y'all know how much I adore this man!

Jillian - My bestest friend in the whole wide world. She's more than a best friend, she's my sister. She seriously knows everything about me, and still loves me for it!

The amazing women I've met through blogging - some of you are in this picture, some of you aren't. Thanks for the best support system out there!

Just Add Color Swap Reveal

I've got more goodies to reveal to you guys!!! :)

I participated in the "Just Add Color Fall Swap" where we were to send a scarf and a bottle of nail polish to our partner.

I was paired up with one of the hosts, Ashlee, and we had so much fun getting to know one another.

She did a FAB job at sending me just what I like!

Isn't that scarf just gorgeous? I LOVE it! The nail polish is Essie's Little Brown Dress. Funny story, when I was shopping for her, I almost picked this polish up for myself because I liked it so much.. glad I waited to see what I got from her first. ;)

101 in 1001 Swap Reveal

As you all know, I'm a bit swap obsessed.. they're so much fun! So, when Holly told me about one she was hosting on her blog, I immediately went to check it out.

The swap was for people with a DayZero account, where they have made a list of 101 things to accomplish in 1001 days.

Thankful for my hometown

Today, I'm linking up for the THANKful blog challenge because the topic pulled at my heartstrings a little. ;)

I grew up in a teeny tiny town in northeast Texas. Campbell, TX. So small, that we joke it's not even on the map! Population WAS 549. I remember because the sign was right at the end of the road we lived on.

The 2000 census stated the population was up to 734.

My graduating class only had 20 people in it. My school was one big building grades K-12.

We all knew each other, our parents all knew each other, and we were all friends.

The neighboring city, Commerce, was where we did the majority of our hanging out, where I worked at Sonic, and where I first attended college.
These little bitty towns are where I made my memories.
It's where I made my best friends.
It's where I gained most all of my life experiences.
It's where I got a place of my own.
It's where I was confident enough to join a sorority.
It's where I got in trouble.
It's where I drank too much and had too much fun.

I said all my life how much I hated that town and how I couldn't wait to get out of it, and move onto "bigger and better things".

I am glad I moved on, but I will always have a little place in my heart for the little country town where everyone knows everybody else's business.

Today, I am reviewing Can You Keep a Secret? by Sophie Kinsella

I actually saw this book on Heather's shelf on Good Reads, and saw that she rated it 5 stars. Since I know Heather has fabulous taste in books, I decided to add it to my "to-read" shelf.

I searched for in the kindle store, and lo and behold it was only $1.99!! SOLD!

Synopsis from Good Reads:

Meet Emma Corrigan, a young woman with a huge heart, an irrepressible spirit, and a few little secrets: Secrets from her boyfriend: I’ve always thought Connor looks a bit like Ken. LOVED this book. So hilariously written, and I love that the main character, Emma, is so easy to relate to. This was a book I had a hard time putting down, and I finished it very quickly.

I gave it 5 stars as well!

I got my power cord for my laptop in the mail yesterday!!!

So, now I'm back to writing blogs. I know you guys were totally concerned. ;)

It's OK..

..to call your mom crying when you don't feel good

..to let your mom come over to take care of you with said sickness

..to be contemplating giving giveaway winnings as Christmas gifts (I'm broke!)

..to have slept 18 hrs in the past 24 hours

..to not miss class because you have an exam <---I'm an overachiever

..to want to start the 2nd book in a quartet, but it's been so long since you finished the 1st you don't know if you should start over or not

..to be totally loving the weather right now. No A/C or heat on in the apt = super low electric bill

..to have gone out of the house only once yesterday - to check the mail for my birchbox

..to stretch your contacts out until they literally hurt (they're too expensive!)

..to consider waiting until after the 1st of the year for your root canal, when all of your dental benefits will be available

..to wait until you have no more clean undies or socks left to do laundry

..to kinda wish you were engaged or married so you could send out cutesy Christmas cards this year

..to go to bed right outta the shower without brushing your hair on rare occasions

..to want to buy 2 of everything you buy your swap partners so you can have one too!

..to be totally behind in looking for a new apartment when this current lease is up!

..to move funds from your savings to your checking every now and then

..to refrain from taking a nap on a Sunday afternoon because you know you won't sleep that night if you do

..to despise Facebook these days

..to wish working out/taking workout classes were MUCH more cheaper

..to delete emails from your favorite stores websites before opening them so you don't have to see the awesome deal & feel the need to spend your money
