A Weekend for the Birthday Books!

Good morning, happy Monday, happy 1st day of the 2nd half of the year, and happy Canada day. Did I cover everything? ;)

First of all, if you're seeing my blog post pop up in your feed, and you're thinking, "Wow, I haven't seen anything from her in a while!" Well, then go ahead and go catch up to see why I was so quiet for the month of June.

If you've already read that post, then I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your sweet, kind words. I'm still working on genuinely responding to the comments and emails I received regarding that post. I can't even begin to tell you how many of you had me in tears. Good tears. Thank you for that.

ALSO, Google Reader is no more as of today. So please, if you want to continue along with my adventures, follow me on Bloglovin'!

Now, on to the most special part of today....

Happy Birthday Babe!!!!!

Today is Nate's 31st birthday!

We had a fun time celebrating this past weekend, so I wanted to share with y'all.

Friday Night:

After work, we decided instead of our usual Rusty Taco friday dinner, let's do something different. First of all, it was entirely too hot for an outdoor setting, and Nate had gotten a coupon in his email from Grimaldi's for a free large pizza for his birthday.

It's important for you to know how amazing Grimaldi's is. It's our absolute favorite pizza, and we eat there any chance we get. If you have one nearby and have never been, go soon! Promise you'll love it.

Since we had a coupon to get our food for free, we went ahead and splurged on drinks. Nate got a beer he wouldn't normally order, and I got wine instead of water or beer. :)

While we were waiting on our pizza, we noticed it was taking a bit longer than usual to get our food. It also seemed like every other table around us was getting their dinner and we weren't. I made the comment that I hadn't seen our waiter around in a while, and maybe he had went on a break or something. We weren't to the point of complaining or anything though, we had just taken notice that ours was taking a little longer than we were used to.

All of a sudden, the manager and our waiter (with a reddish/purple eye that I hadn't noticed beforehand) walked up to the table and the manager apologized about our food taking so long, and that he'd have it right out. He said our order would be half off for the inconvenience. The waiter informed him that we were using a coupon anyway, and he said oh okay, and instead brought us 2 $5 gift cards for future use. I thought that was really sweet.

Our waiter came back to the table and said he apologized for disappearing on us, he was in the back opening up a bottle of Tabasco sauce and the bottle busted and he got the sauce all in his eye. I felt SO bad for the guy. He was a trooper though, stuck it out and finished serving us. Crazy.

Saturday:

We didn't do a lot during the day because I'd had a raging headache for 2 days, so we cleaned the apartment a bit, did some laundry and I tried to nap off the headache.

That night, our friends Chris and Liz, or as we lovingly refer to them as Chriz, came to get us to take us to the Rangers baseball game as a gift to Nate for his birthday.

The game ended up going into extra innings and the whole thing lasted a little over 4 hours. But, we stuck it out and stayed the whole time! It was a lot of fun, and luckily our seats were where the sun was already setting so it wasn't TOO terrible in the heat.

Now tonight, I will be making Nate's favorite dinner and letting him have complete control of the remote. ;)

Happy birthday again, my love. I hope this is your best year yet. Love you so much!

Hope you are feeling much better Amber. Happy Birthday Nate.....looks like you had fun at the game. Amber....2 things, I think everyone who has any kind of chronic condition managed by medication does the "oh, but I am feeling fine I won't take it and see what happens" I have (embarrassingly) done it a few times, but one time in particular cured me from ever doing it again....I struggle with severe back pain & anxiety, it was horrid. Suicidal, Evil, weepy, enraged and these emotions kept flowing in order! I am not usually like this AT ALL. So (and imagine I am shaking my finger at you, Hehehe) don't do that again, lol.
Next....sounds like you have a pretty good guy there! So sweet that it was worth it to him to bring it up again, at the risk of getting his head bit off. I have an amazing man that has been on this chronic condition adventure with me and we will be celebrating 22 years together. I think finding humor in all situations has helped a ton. Prayers for you & your hubby....and again hope you feel better now ;)
