Book Club Friday #28

It has been ENTIRELY too long since I linked up with my girls Heather and Katie for Book Club Friday!

Now that the new year is upon us, and I've set a new goal for myself to read X amount of books.. I feel like I'll be linking up more frequently.

I know I love reading others' reviews of books so I can decide whether or not I want to add it to my ever-growing list.

This week, I'm sharing A Total Waste of Makeup by Kim Gruenenfelder.

I found this one for like 75 cents at a local thrift store. Holla!

Book description from Good Reads:

Charlize "Charlie" Edwards certainly knows, in theory, what it takes to lead a successful and happy life. She owns a nice house in Silverlake, LA's trendiest neighborhood. She has glamorous and loyal friends who accompany her to the hottest clubs in town. And she works as the personal assistant to Drew Stanton, Hollywood's sexiest movie star. But she's also turning 30, chronically single, and faced with serving as maid of honor at her younger sister's wedding. Charlie finds herself struggling to juggle the chaos of wedding planning (while wondering if she'll ever wear the white dress herself), her all-consuming job for lunatic boss Stanton, and a serious crush on Jordan, a photographer on the set of Drew's latest feature--a man who might actually return her feelings. A page-turner from start to finish, A Total Waste of Makeup puts a fresh face on women's fiction.

My thoughts:

This book was super adorable. A bit predictable at times, but I still enjoyed it. The main character, Charlie, is easy to relate to and I found myself feeling a lot of the emotions with her throughout the book. I would recommend picking this light read up!

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars!

Friend me on GoodReads

In 2012, I was a little over ambitious and set my reading goal at 50 books for the year. I only read 30. I was a little disappointed because I knew I could do better. I slacked off a bit towards the end of the year.

So for 2013, I have set myself a goal to read 35 books. Totally attainable, and if I go over, that's just fine too! I've already ready 4 books this year, and we're only 2 weeks in. Sooo, it's looking good so far. Who knows, maybe I'll up my goal by the middle of the year?! :)

Happy Friday, my loves!

That book sounds like something I would enjoy! :)
I think you can definitely attain your reading goal! If I wasn't in school I think I would totally make one. I usually catch up over break, but never anything over 30... maybe 10! HAHA!

Through you and others I found out about the goal thing via my Goodreads account and I set one for this year. But now I'm obsessed to see that number go up - but I think I'm that way with a lot of things! Have a great weekend :)

I've heard of this book before but never picked it up. Sounds like it would be a fun read though! I need to start reading again. I was book crazy last year but so far in 2013 I haven't picked one up yet!

75 cents?? Woo hoo! I love cheap books. :) My goal is 30 this year after I read 25 last year. I think 50 would stress me out. Lol
