Book Club Friday #29

Good day, loves. TGIF!!!

Linking up with Heather and Katie to share a recently read book.

P.S. Some of these books I read weeks ago. I am just a little behind on blogging about them. :)

This week, I'm sharing That Boy by Jillian Dodd.

I got this on my kindle in support of fellow Chi O Jillian - she is really sweet and very active on twitter!

Book description from Good Reads:

That Boy is a contemporary romance about falling in love with the boys next door.

You know, being friends with two cute boys does have its benefits.

There's Danny. Danny is a golden boy in every way. He has dreamy blue eyes and blonde hair that always looks perfect, even when it’s windblown or been stuck under a football helmet. He’s the boy every girl crushes on. The boy I get into trouble with, the boy I fight with, the hot quarterback no girl can resist, not even me. Being with Danny is like being on an adventure. He has a bright, contagious smile and abs to die for. He’s pretty much irresistible.

Equally crush worthy is Phillip. Adorable, sweet Phillip, who I have known since birth.  Phillip has dark hair, a perfect smile, brown eyes, and the sexiest voice I have ever heard. He’s the boy I talk to every night before I go to sleep. The boy who rescues me, the boy who can read my mind, the boy who is always there for me, the boy who tries to keep me out of trouble, the boy who irritatingly keeps getting hotter, and whose strong arms always seem to find their way around me.  And when he gives me that grin, I can never say no.

One boy will give me my very first kiss.
One boy will teach me to make out.
One boy will take me to prom.
And finally, one boy will ask me to marry him.
They will both be my best friends.
But only one of them will be the boy I fall in love with.
Only one of them is That Boy.

My thoughts:

This book was really cute! I was torn between whether I was on team Phillip or team Danny. I loved them both. The main character, JJ, is a lot of fun and easy to relate to. Ya know, when you were in high school and were boy crazy. ;) Once I finished I was ready to read the next one: That Wedding. Can't wait!

I gave it 5 out of 5 stars!

This Won't Hurt a Bit!

Today, I've got a little treat for y'all.

Renee, who is hilarious and adorable, and I'm certain we'd be BFFs if we lived closer, is here to entertain y'all today! ;) Enjoy!

Ohh snap. I'm sure y'all are thinking dang Amber, really another guest post? And I'm also sure that in two point five seconds y'all will be like peace out.

Your loss really. I'm that awesome. I kid. Sorta.

I'm Renee and I blog over at This Won't Hurt A Bit. I'm twenty-six. I'm not married. I don't have any kids or furbabies to blog about. I mainly blog about life. The ups and downs and whatever I feel like really. I'm a nurse and usually work in CVICU (Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit).

And I don't usually wear cowboy hats... only for photo-ops!

I loaded up my car a few months ago, left my job and my home state of Mississippi and decided to give travel nursing a shot. In California. That's ohhh, only about 2000 miles from MS. It was scary as hell but completely worth it. I've been in NorCal since the beginning of June and can't wait to get back to The South. Land of sweet tea and SEC, among other things. :)

Today I want to tell y'all a few things that I believe in.
. . . . .

I believe in never taking yourself too seriously. You need to let the inner child out occasionally.

I believe in taking pictures. Of anything and everything. One day I will be old and senile and need the pictures to remember good times.

I believe you need a best friend who you can tell all your secrets to without fear of judgement.

I believe that ice cream and dessert makes life better. Never skip it. Unless you're diabetic and in that case more for meeee.

I believe in watching television a lot. I might have a slight problem with this one.

I believe that breakups can create some of the worst heartaches ever felt, but if it's meant to be then it will be eventually.

I believe in prayer. No matter how big or small, I believe miracles happen daily.

I believe that live music is the best music.

I believe in wearing flip flops year round. Okay, well maybe not year round but as close as you can get.

I believe that tanning beds give you skin cancer, so instead I am the most pasty white person ever witnessed.

I believe that a cup of coffee and a good meal at your Granny's house make you truly appreciate life.

I believe that a beer or glass of wine or margarita (I don't discriminate.) is best when enjoyed with friends.

I believe in naps as often as you can take them.

I believe that every woman should know how to shoot a gun.

I believe in gift-giving frequently and oftentimes for no reason at all other than to brighten someone's day.

I believe that some days are meant for not changing out of pajamas.

I believe that sporting events are best when actually attended.

I believe that you are never too young to start saving for retirement.

I believe in doing something that completely scares the crap out of you (i.e. moving cross country alone) every now and then. It makes you feel alive.

I believe in traveling whenever you have the chance. No matter where.

I believe in cuddling.

I believe that if you love someone you should say it as often as you can. Everyone needs to hear those three words. Family, Friends, Husbands, Wives... everyone.

I believe that sunsets and sunrises are one of the most beautiful sights on Earth and should be stopped and photographed no matter where you are.

I believe that you should learn from your mistakes.

I believe in forgiving other people when they make mistakes as well.

I believe in taking stealthy pics just for blogging purposes.

I believe in trying new things and taking chances.

And last but not least...

I believe that you should all come and visit my blog. Making friends in the blogosphere is awesomesauce y'all!

Thanks Amber for letting me hijack your blog today!

I know y'all just loved Renee.. how can you NOT?! She's fab. Now, go say hello and tell her I sent ya! ;)

The Facts of Me

The ever so fabulous Whitney is hosting a one day link-up where we all visit one another's amusement parks and learn a little something about each other. Hey, she said it - not me. I just found it really hilarious!

So type up all those weird, quirky things about yourself and go link it up, yo!

I have the humor of a 12 year old boy. Most things that are deemed inappropriate are found hilarious by me.

I get random spurts of energy. Mostly when I first wake up. These energies cause me to bust out in song and dance and sometimes scream at the top of my lungs while driving to release pent up energy.

That's about what my face looks like right before I release my crazy energized self.

I fill my wine glass way too full, and I don't give a shit if that makes me unsophisticated. Classy is 1/4 full?! No way. Fill 'er up, please!

I rarely pose like a normal person for photos. I like acting silly, so why not capture me at my finest?

I have a thing for old men. Like, not in a creepy, sexual way. But, in a way where I find them so ridiculously adorable that I have to fight the urge to hug them. On a daily basis.

I hate driving. Causes too much anxiety. But I also hate being in the passenger seat. I'm kinda a control freak. Maybe I could just have a private jet to take me anywhere I'd like to go?!

I compare characters in books and movies to my life. I pinpoint which parts of their personalities are like mine. I feel like I can enjoy it more if the characters are relatable.

I will NEVER turn down taking shots with friends at bars even though I hate them and the way they make me feel.

Case in point: My face? Gross.

Nothing makes me happier than when I walk into a business (Starbucks, (especially the 'bux) post office, gas station, etc.) and people know me. Like, I'm a regular. It's probably embarrassing for most people, but I LOVE it. Makes me feel important. Because I'm lame like that.

Organizing gives me an unreal sense of being high. Paperwork, beauty products, clothes, boxes, anything. If it's organizable, I'll do it and feel amaaaaze afterwards.

I do NOT cry in front of people I don't know well. Or even some people I do know well. I enjoy a good cry, but will suck back those tears until I'm alone. Preferably in the shower because that's where the best cries are held. Plus I have one SERIOUS ugly cry. Oh girl.

Okay, so I'm not gonna cry here, but I look pretty damn sad, right? It could lead to ugly crying. Never know.

I have never told anyone my most embarrassing story, and I will most likely go to the grave with it. It just mortified me. And yes, I know this means you want to know even more now. But too bad! ;)

However, I do not embarrass easily. It's not uncommon for my best friend and I to yell obscenities at one another in a British accent, in public for attention, aka a good laugh.

And that's about that. I could delve deeper into my weirdness, but I don't want to scare you all away just yet. ;)

Datevitation Review + Giveaway

Let me introduce you to Datevitation. You may have already heard about it, it's VERY popular right now. But, I still wanna rave about it and let you guys know what I think about it.

I was so excited when Datevitation decided to sponsor my blog, and give me the chance to review one of their custom love coupon books

It was a lot of fun picking out which dates to put in my book, but it was hard to choose since they have over 200 date ideas in the library. There's all kinds of dates to choose from! This is the perfect gift for any occasion. I gave mine to Nate as a "just because" gift, but with Valentine's Day coming up this would be the ideal gift for any significant other.

I loved that you can choose the text. It's pre-written for you, but you can change it up in your words if you want to make it more personalized.

It comes all ready to go in a gift box! It's the perfect size and fits the coupon book just right.

There are over 60 cover options to choose from! (Please excuse Nate's hat hair)

Just one of the 5 dates I chose for our book.

Nate was really excited. He thought it was a lot of fun, and even said "Can I cash them all in right now?" :)

It is an inexpensive way to treat your love! Books normally start at just $20, but as a special treat for my followers - you can use promo code BRUNCH for $10 off your order!

Or, you could enter for your chance to win a custom love coupon book all of your own!

Use the rafflecopter widget below to enter. Good luck!

Oh, and P.S. the winner of the Body by Vi giveaway was Rachel! Congrats love. I'll be in touch soon!

Book Club Friday #28

It has been ENTIRELY too long since I linked up with my girls Heather and Katie for Book Club Friday!

Now that the new year is upon us, and I've set a new goal for myself to read X amount of books.. I feel like I'll be linking up more frequently.

I know I love reading others' reviews of books so I can decide whether or not I want to add it to my ever-growing list.

This week, I'm sharing A Total Waste of Makeup by Kim Gruenenfelder.

I found this one for like 75 cents at a local thrift store. Holla!

Book description from Good Reads:

Charlize "Charlie" Edwards certainly knows, in theory, what it takes to lead a successful and happy life. She owns a nice house in Silverlake, LA's trendiest neighborhood. She has glamorous and loyal friends who accompany her to the hottest clubs in town. And she works as the personal assistant to Drew Stanton, Hollywood's sexiest movie star. But she's also turning 30, chronically single, and faced with serving as maid of honor at her younger sister's wedding. Charlie finds herself struggling to juggle the chaos of wedding planning (while wondering if she'll ever wear the white dress herself), her all-consuming job for lunatic boss Stanton, and a serious crush on Jordan, a photographer on the set of Drew's latest feature--a man who might actually return her feelings. A page-turner from start to finish, A Total Waste of Makeup puts a fresh face on women's fiction.

My thoughts:

This book was super adorable. A bit predictable at times, but I still enjoyed it. The main character, Charlie, is easy to relate to and I found myself feeling a lot of the emotions with her throughout the book. I would recommend picking this light read up!

I gave it 4 out of 5 stars!

Friend me on GoodReads

In 2012, I was a little over ambitious and set my reading goal at 50 books for the year. I only read 30. I was a little disappointed because I knew I could do better. I slacked off a bit towards the end of the year.

So for 2013, I have set myself a goal to read 35 books. Totally attainable, and if I go over, that's just fine too! I've already ready 4 books this year, and we're only 2 weeks in. Sooo, it's looking good so far. Who knows, maybe I'll up my goal by the middle of the year?! :)

Happy Friday, my loves!

Love is in the air..

..everywhere I look around!

So, I've already told you guys how Nate and I have attended like a thousand weddings since we've been together. Well, the first weekend of the month we went to yet another one. The first of many in 2013.

It was for our good friends Katie and Dave. They are who we spent NYE with this year. Nate met Katie in college and they have been friends ever since. I just adore her, and it was so fun getting to see her marry the man of her dreams.

We had a total blast, like we always do at weddings, and I wanted to share all the fun with you guys. I'll let the pictures do the talking for the most part. Ya know I have to add in some commentary. ;)

And here we are all made up ready to go. What?! We do know how to clean up ya know. ;) Off to the wedding!

The bride and groom walking down the aisle right after being pronounced husband and wife. Such a sweet moment. I'm glad I captured it. And yes, her dress was to DIE!!! Seriously.

Okay, now the fun stuff starts. Okay, I'm not a wedding hater, but let's be honest with one another. Do you go to listen to the preacher make them recite their vows, or do you really go for the party afterwards?! My point exactly. The party after is way more fun. Trust.

While the lovely bride and groom make their attendants and guests wait while they take pictures, it's quite nice of them to go ahead and serve the drinks. Ya know so that way we're nice and sloshed by the time dinner starts.

It got a little boring waiting, so we took plenty of pictures in order to entertain ourselves.

I made the comment that Nate is always kinda slid behind me when we take pictures and it makes him look like a peanut head and mine looks ginormous. So, that's what the last two are all about. Him trying to make me feel better by having a peanut head instead. ;)

Then we found the mother of all wedding receptions - the PHOTO BOOTH! Holla!

We clearly had entirely too much fun in there. The added in alcohol probably helped immensely with that. And yes, Nate went into the photo booth solo. He's a strange duck that one.

There were assigned seating at the tables in the reception, so we were talking to our tablemates and come to find out - Nate's college roommate from sophomore year was sitting with us. I had been chatting his girlfriends' ear off all night.

It was precious seeing those Tech boys all grown up.

Of course, we had to get pics with the bride and of the first dance and all that good stuff.

Also, it was the grooms' grandmother's 83rd birthday. They pulled her on the dance floor and everyone sang happy birthday to her while she busted a few dance moves of her own. It was priceless!

Oh hey there - hair is a little sweaty and my face is definitely a little too red. You'd think I was drinking wine or something!?

And THIS gem was captured on film that night.

Yep, that would be my boyfriend backin' dat ass on me during Baby Got Back by Sir Mix A Lot.

We know how so shake our groove thing.

FYI: Dancing ALL night to each and every song in heels is a killer work out for your thighs. Ya know, just in case you were wondering about that!
