Workout Roundup v.1

I blogged this past week about my want/need to get back in shape. I got back on the workout train, and I'm sticking to it!

As a way of keeping a journal to hold myself accountable to y'all, and a way to remind myself what a great job I'm doing, I'm linking up with Meghan for her roundup link-up.

Sunday 12/2: Day 2 of Week 1 C25k
Monday 12/3: Rest
Tuesday 12/4: Day 3 of Week 1 C25k
Wednesday 12/5: Rest
Thursday 12/6: Jillian Michaels' 30 day shred
Friday 12/7: Rest
Saturday 12/8: 10.5 mile stationery bike ride

Now that I look at what I've done, I feel like I'm taking too many rest days. To be fair, I went from not working out at all to working out pretty good.

I would have done more C25k running, but I talked my little sister into doing the program with me, so since she was behind, I let her catch up so we'd be doing it together on the same weeks/days. 

After Wednesday's rest, she needed a rest day from finishing week 1 of C25k, and I just KNEW that I couldn't afford to take another rest day. I know myself well enough to know that if I took more than one rest day in a row, I would fall off the train. So I pulled out my trusty Jillian Michaels DVD and did one of her workouts. It's quick enough and really works my whole body. I feel like I got a legit workout afterwards.

Also? Because I was doing it in my bedroom on my carpet, I didn't wear shoes. I didn't think it would matter. But, it did. I sprained my ankle earlier this year, and it's given me some trouble ever since then off and on. Now that I'm working out again, and the episode of no shoes, I'm kinda limping today. It hurts to put any weight on it. However, with my tennis shoes on that support my ankle, it doesn't hurt too bad.

Therefore, I haven't given it any rest really. I'm not sure what to do about it. I need to follow up with an orthopedic doctor about it anyway. Maybe I'll get that scheduled. I don't want to screw it up anymore.

So, that's my week in workout form. How did I do?

It's really important to give yourself rest days, especially when you're just getting back into it so don't fret! It's awesome that you worked out 4 of the 7 days!!! :) Way to go and keep it up!

I think 3 rest days is totally fine, like you said, you are just getting back into it. I've done C25k like 5 times, but by week 5 or 6 I just get so annoyed with the music, so I just stop it!

Good luck to you though! I've done Jillian's workout too and it is legit! haha

Rest days ARE important, especially if you're not really used to working out a lot. Believe me...I usually go balls to the wall when I workout and don't let myself rest...therefore I tend to hurt myself!

I'm proud of you for all your amazing workouts this past week!

I love this!! I'm joining you guys starting this week. Too bad I didn't start last week. I did an insane Kettle Bell class with my cousin on Wednesday that kicked my ever lovin butt! I still feel it a bit.

Rest days are totally necessary - but I'm just like you! More than one rest day in a row is always the death of me being on the bandwagon! Good job!!

Rest days are important but dont take too many because then you will not see results. You need to push yourself to a point. With that said looks like you had a great week in workouts! Keep up the good work!

I tried doing the Shred without shoes and it's a big mistake. I need the support and it really will help having the shoes on.

But you are ROCKING it, girl!!! Keep up the awesome work!!!!
