Can we talk for just a minute about how one of my most favorite things about blogging is the perks? Because it definitely is. Seriously.
When I was contacted by the marketing coordinator from Arbor Mist to review their new line of frozen wine cocktails, I was entirely too excited. Like, it was almost embarrassing.
They sent me out a big ol' pretty package filled with yummy packages of drinks inside.
I quickly tore open the package to see what flavors they sent me. I saw 3 different pouches, along with some information pamphlets about the company and their products.
I saw that they sent me Blackberry Merlot, Strawberry White Zinfandel and White Pear Pinot Grigio.
As you can see, these are a good portion. I also noticed at first how pretty the colors are on the packaging.
The company recommends that the liquid pouches be placed in the freezer for five hours before consumption, then gently massaged before opening and squeezing to pour the beverage into a glass.
The first one I tried was the strawberry one. I put it in the freezer at Nate's one morning, and by that afternoon when I was ready to head to the pool, it was nice and frozen/slushy for me.
I poured it into a plastic cup (pool friendly!) and went on my way.
It was a bit sweeter than I had anticipated, but it was so good. I thought the icy concoction was perfect for lounging by the pool.
A few nights later my BFF and I decided to throw the other 2 (blackberry and white pear) into the freezer and have some cocktails with a movie night.
I definitely find it to be easier to pour the drink into a glass and have it that way. I imagine you could also just cut the top off of the pouch, stick a straw in it and have it that way too, if you wanted.
We each tried both of these, and agreed that the blackberry one was entirely too sweet. In my honest opinion, it tasted like pure syrup. I wasn't a fan.
The white pear one was my favorite out of all three flavors. It was very light, crisp and refreshing. The taste went perfectly with the slush.
At $1.99 retail, you really have nothing to lose when trying these. So, head out to your local grocery store and pick up a couple!
