Go for the Goal: April Recap & May Goals



So, I'm here to face the music and own up to how I actually did with the goals that I set for April. Let's check, shall we?

G0 For The Goal

Personal:
Do my hair more often than not - Okay.. I did OK on this one. I curled my hair more (see scrunched with mousse) but that was mainly because my hair dryer died on me, and I had no choice because I couldn't straighten wet hair.

Read 4 books - I did this one! I did reviews on them too. Across Eternity, Savor the Moment, Happy Ever After, and I also read L.A. Candy. I have the review on that one scheduled for this Friday! I think Becca would be pretty proud of me for accomplishing this goal. ;)

Wake up earlier/leave for work earlier - DONE! Thanks to Binky. I'm one of those people who set my alarm for 3 different times, but I don't actually get out of bed until the last one goes off. Well, as soon as I get up to grab my phone after the first alarm, Bink is up and at 'em. He won't stop and he's ready to get up and go out. So, yes, I've been getting to work earlier too.

Health:
Write out what I eat/drink every day - DONE. I did this for about the first 2 weeks in my EC planner, and now I'm using MFP to write it all down. Which I like better because unlike my planner, MFP will tell me how many cals I'm consuming too. ;)

Lose 10 pounds - HA! I lost 1. Not quite the goal, but it's better than gaining, right?

Begin Couch to 5k program - I did begin it, but then my ankle that I sprained back in January started KILLING me. So instead I've been using the elliptical and walking on the treadmill at least 3-4 times a week. I feel that is a minor accomplishment.

Get fitted for (and buy) new running shoes - Semi done. I did get fitted, and I learned A LOT about my feet, the type of shoe I need and all that jazz. However, I didn't buy them. I am in a tight spot with money right now which leads me to my next goals....

Financial:
Save $150 - Not even close. I am embarrassed to say how much is in my savings account because it's a pittance. I've got to get other things in order before I can begin saving.

Don't purchase frivolous things for myself - I did pretty well on this one. I did go to Charming Charlie and got a couple of necklaces on clearance and top on major sale, but besides that, no money was spent on things I didn't really need.

Now, for my May goals.. this is tough, but looking at how I did in April, I think I have a better idea of the goals I can actually attain in May. Let's see!

Personal:
Read 5 books - Seeing as how I did 4 last month, I should be able to add 1 more to the mix. Especially since I now have the 50 shades series on my kindle. From what I hear, I will FLY through those.

Knock one thing off my 101 in 1001 list - I have until March 2013 to "complete" this list, and I still have LOTS to do. I'd like to at least knock off ONE this month. Now to decide which one! :)

Health:
Lose 5 pounds - That should be a little more easy to reach instead of 10. With my counting cals, I think I can do this!

Quit soda altogether - I am pretty good at this. I rarely drink soda, but every now and then, for a little pick-me-up, I'll grab a diet DP or a coke zero. Sure, they have no cals, but it isn't good for me. I need to stick to my usual water.

Work out 3-4 times a week - I have been doing this pretty well, and it makes me feel good, so why not keep it up? Let's see if I can!

Financial:
No mani/pedis - I can do this. I have PLENTY of nail polish at home, and I can easily do my own nails instead of paying to get them done. This will save me a good chunk of money.

Make coffee at home - More often than not, I will forget to set the coffee pot the night before, and I'll just go through the Starbucks drive-thru instead. It's easier and yummier. So, I want to make coffee at home at least 16 out of the 31 days this month.

Alright, hold me accountable friends! I must accomplish these. :)

I should be allowed to start Couch to 5k next week and I'm so ready!

Duke is the same way about the alarm. Hank would gladly press snooze for me if he knew how, ha!

your post made me start thinking of what goals i want/need to accomplish in may...is it bad that i can think of too much stuff I want to accomplish in a meer 30 days?

These are great goals! When I was working on my finances, I had to give up the drive-thru coffee too. I drink regular coffee with Hazelnut or Vanilla cream Monday-Thursday, and treat myself once a week to a latte from the drive-thru. It takes some adjusting, but I look forward to my morning coffee now! Plus, it's about 1/3 of the calories!

Glad the goals are going so well! I think it's great to write them out and keep yourself accountable. Maybe I should do the same...

First off, YES I am very proud of you! : ] Always.

Second, now that I'm in the habit of it I actually enjoy at home coffee more than Starbucks so we'll hope the same for you. If you need some motivation Fresh Market has really good coffee and I usually buy Kona coffee at Marshalls or TJMaxx. Really yummy.

I'm trying to get in the habit of setting my pot the night before as well (because I'm reading my bible in the mornings now) so maybe we should start text reminding each other.

OK I admit that I am so bad with alarms myself....I seriously have been known to set my alarm super early just so I can snooze longer. I've actually snoozed for an hour on several different occasions.

Great goals! I almost never do my hair, though I really should. Maybe I'll add that to my list haha! Awesome progress too!
