Go for the Goal: April

I have been meaning to link up with my 2 favorite Meghan(s) for a while now on this, but always forget about it until I see everyone else's posts. Procrastination at it's finest. Maybe I should add that to my lists? ;)

I think this is a great way for me to see my goals. It's easier for me to attain them when I have them written out in front of me, and also by linking up with other bloggers, I feel like I'll be held accountable. Which is something I always need!

Do my hair more often than not - During the week, I mostly shower at night. So, I go to bed with my hair not completely dry usually and when I wake up in the morning, it is a disaster. It's so much easier to pin my bangs back with bobby pins and throw the rest of it in a messy bun. I want to start fixing it more (blow drying/straightening) because I will feel better about myself. A good hair day makes me happy. AND, I think by wearing it down more I will cut down on a lot of the breakage my hair is suffering through.

Read 4 books - I have been reading a lot more lately, and I love it. I've always been a book worm since I was a kid. I've recently added all of the books I own (on my kindle and on my bookshelf) to my GoodReads to-read list. I want to really plow through those. I think 4 books in a month is easily attainable. Seriously.. it's 1 book a week.

Wake up earlier/leave for work earlier - I have a horrible habit about hitting the snooze button a good 3 to 4 times in the mornings. When I finally decide to open my eyes, I lay in bed and catch up on what Twitter was doing when I was asleep. By the time I'm done with that, I am rushing around to throw on some scrubs, take the dog out and grab coffee before making it to work before my first patient. I always make it, but I feel being on time and not rushed really sets the day off to a good tone.


Write out what I eat/drink every day - I've been telling myself to do this, and keep forgetting. I have this amazing Erin Condren planner that I need to put to full use anyway. I have been eating awful lately, and I know writing it down would really make me realize what I've been putting into my body and why I feel so sluggish and yuck about myself. Seeing it written out I'm sure will make me step it up and actually change my diet. I hope it helps!

Lose 10 pounds - My ultimate goal is to lose 30 pounds, but clearly that'd be hard and unhealthy to do in a month. So, 10 pounds should be easy to achieve. I have gained a few pounds in the last couple of months, and not only do I hate what I see on the scale, but I hate the way I feel in my clothes. I want to be comfortable and NOT self-conscious when I wear my favorite pair of jeans.

Begin Couch to 5k program - AGAIN. I started this last summer and quit about 3 weeks into it. I hate making excuses, but it started to get so hot outside, and I found it hard to do this particular program on a treadmill. Like I said, not trying to make any excuses. Those were no reasons to quit. I have already downloaded the app on my phone again, and have heard plenty of success stories, so I am determined to start and FINISH this time. But first..

Get fitted for (and buy) new running shoes - My current ones I've had for about 5 years, and they hurt my feet terribly. They have a high arch in them, and my feet are pretty flat. I also keep terrible shin splints when I run in them. This is probably also a reason I don't like to go run/exercise because my feet kill me afterwards. I know getting properly fitted for shoes that will be comfortable will make working out much more enjoyable.


Save $150 - I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but for me - it is. I am a horrible saver. My money burns a hole in my pocket. Every pay day, I pay my bills and what's left (if there ever is any) I go spend on things that I could live without. So, I would like to see my savings account grow by $150 by the end of the month.

Don't purchase frivolous things for myself - This ties in with the goal above. It'd be a lot easier for me to save some money if I didn't treat myself to something each time I go to Target for groceries. Or, if I didn't buy myself something each time I go out to buy someone else a birthday gift, etc. I really need to start asking myself if what I am going to purchase is a NEED or a WANT. It's hard distinguishing between the 2 sometimes though.

I have to admit - just writing these out makes me feel good and excited. I feel determined to accomplish all of these, and I can't wait to update you all on how I've done!

Making ym savings account grow by even $50 always makes me feel like I've really done something. EVen little goals are good. Go you!

These are all awesome goals. I know they're all totally doable, and you spaced them out so well! I am also making a goal to write down what I eat everyday. As far as doing my hair, I do the same thing as you, as well as pushing the snooze button, but for now I just don't have that desire to really start doing it more. Hm. Maybe next month! :) Good luck!! I can't wait to hear your progress on Couch 2 5k!

Getting the right shoes is going to completely transform the way you feel about running. I didn't get professionally fitted, but found the perfect pair on my own, which I kind of consider a miracle!. I've bought 3 or 4 pairs of them since then. I can't live without them. And I KNOW you can do the couch to 5k. Especially once you have the right shoes. I'm rooting for you!

You can do it! I do myfitnesspal and it is SO easy to do. It holds me accountable for what I eat everyday, and just by changing my eating habits I lost 9 lbs in 7 weeks! Now if you're training on top of that, you should have no problem! Get it girl!

I'm impressed with your book reading goal! Good Reads has me wanting to read so many new books but I just can't seem to find the time to get through more than 1-2 books a month.

I need to start the C25k again too. I've just been lazy and haven't done it. I'm horrible about snoozing in the am too!!
