Book Club Friday #3

Today, I'm linking up with one of my fave preggos, Heather for her weekly Book Club Friday link-up.

This week, I'm reviewing One Day by David Nicholls. This seemed to be a book that a lot of people had read, so I decided to download it and give it a try..

Description from Good Reads:

Emma and Dexter meet for the first time on the night of their graduation. Tomorrow they must go their separate ways. So where will they be on this one day next year? And the year after that? And every year that follows? Twenty years, two people, ONE DAY.

I'm sorry to inform you all that I HATED this book. Seriously, it took me forever to read. It was SO slow, and didn't have any super exciting parts that got me hooked and wanting more.

I wouldn't recommend this book. How did you feel about this book if you've read it?

I really loved this when I read it...but I did hate the ending. It was so anti-climactic!

I loved and hated it at the same time. I don't know if that makes sense, haha!

And I'm your favorite preggo?! YES.

I had it on my to read list, but kept hearing that it was really bad, so I took it off!!!

I actually really loved it! But I can see why you would think it moved slowly...I typically just read for 20 minutes on my lunch break, so maybe that helped LOL. But I did throw the book against a tree one day when the author went all Nicholas Sparks on me. I wasn't a fan of the ending...but I did like how there seemed to be a bit of closure with it. The entire time I just pictured Jim Sturgess as the main male, since he played that role in the movie, and perhaps that also helped me to love the movie LOL. xo

It seems like you either love this book or hate it. I had it on hold at the library, but when my turn came up, I wasn't into it anymore. The movie was a flop too, so that didn't really make me want to read it anymore. I really appreciate when people review books they hate - I want people's real opinions so I know whether I should really spend the time on a book. Thanks for your honest opinion!

I sorta liked it and then I sorta didn't like it. It was VERY depressing.

Thank the heavens! Someone else thought this book was horrible too! I hated it! I thought it was going to get better but no, it got worse.

Awww, sad! I hate reading something and then not liking it.

Me too! I have had this book for over a month trying to read it-- gotten about 100 pages in, but it's SO depressing. I never quit reading books, but I think this will be one that I don't finish.

I almost take it as a challenge when someone says they hate a book LOL. I've had quite a few this year that I absolutely despised. And some that I thought were disappointing, like Room by Emma Donaghue
