The one in which I tell you how we meet

I've had plenty of people ask/suggest for me to blog about the back story on how Nate and I met.

I'm sure a lot of you already know that we met online. Obvs I'm a sucker for online people, I've met some of my greatest friends here! ;)

So anyway, not long after I moved to the Dallas area in early 2008 a girl I knew had gotten engaged, and I asked all the typical girl questions.

"How did he propose?"

"What's the ring look like?"
"How did you guys meet?"

That's when she told me that she met him on a website called Plenty of Fish.

I thought to myself, "Whoa, this girl found her future husband ONLINE? No way!"

So being ultra curious, like always, I decided to sign up on this site just to see what it was all about.

And no, I wasn't getting on there to find a husband. Honestly, I didn't think anything would come out of it.

I met quite a few douchebags, assholes, cheap guys, etc. I even met a guy that I casually dated for a few months who I still remain friends with to this day.

Okay, I'm getting off subject!

Anyway, they have a tab you can click on to see who has viewed your profile. I'd check it often, and one day I saw this gorgeous picture pop up:

HOTTIE ALERT! I just had to chat with this guy.

But wait, he only viewed my profile, he didn't send me a message, so he obviously wasn't interested.

I decided I had to message him anyway just to give it a shot, even though the chances of him responding were highly unlikely.

So I sent him a message, and within hours I received one back. He informed me that he didn't write me because he didn't think that I would write him back! Awww. ;)

So this went on for a few weeks, chatting on IM, emailing, myspacing/FBing, the works! Finally we started texting one another.

I was going to Austin mid-October for a girls' weekend, and while there we decided that we would meet up once I was back in town. I was giddy the whole weekend, waiting for Sunday night to arrive so I could meet this guy.

We met at Sherlock's in Addison, and when I walked in and saw him I was immediately relieved that he looked IDENTICAL to his picture. Haha! If you're familiar with online dating, then you already know that this is NOT always the case.

We automatically clicked, and talked like we had known one another forever.

Around 10:30, my roommate called me and said her radiator went out, she was stranded and really needed my help. When I told Nate about this, he seriously asked me if this was my out. He thought I had told a friend to call and bail me outta the date, haha!

To prove to him that I was not trying to end the night early, I invited him to go along with me to rescue my friend.

While walking out to our cars, we realized that we had parked right next to one another and didn't even know it!

After we helped her, we were gonna go to Trinity Hall for another drink, but they were closed, so instead we stood outside our cars and talk for a while, and he ended the night with an amazing kiss.

The rest is history my friends! ;)

Our very first picture together :)

Out first day meeting in person was October 12, 2008 and we've been inseparable ever since. There hasn't been many weekends to go by that we aren't together.

We've definitely had our share of ups and downs, but I feel so blessed to have made the decision to play around on a site that I didn't even take super seriously. Had I not, I never would've met the love of my life. :)

How did you and your significant other/spouse meet? I love hearing other people's stories! :)

I had never heard of this website until Saturday when my SIL was telling me about it. interesting!

I met my husband in junior high. We met in band but became friends in Animal Science when we'd torment the teacher by singing when she'd piss me off. Yeah I wasn't the rebel he was! Then we drifted away and met back up through the one and only facebook... LOL :)

Yayyyy!!!! Online!!!! Tim and I met on Match.com!! I signed up when I moved to Tampa, went out with a few guys that weren't that bad but I didn't want to go out with again. I thought I was going to cancel my match account, I met Tim on Sunday night (too!!) and then i did cancel my match account...but not for the reason I thought!! We hung out every single day for the first month we knew each other. And have seen each other every single day since we met except ones where I've been out of town, he's been out of town, or I've had family in town. :) And almost three years after we met (on July 20th), we got engaged! Yay! And we're getting married July 21st, 2012!

I met my boyfriend (of 3 years) on Plenty of Fish as well! I had two friends who were using the site and really wanted me to join. One of the friends created the profile for me, but I wasn't so sure about it. Some guy messaged me to say that he had all his teeth. What? Haha!
Anyway, within about a week, Stephen had sent me a message, and things progressed from there. I'm so glad my friends made me sign up :)

So cute! A friend of mine met her hubby online too! :) So sweet!

I met my hubby at church when we were in high school. I was up front, on stage doing announcements or something and he walked in and saw me. He turned to his friend and said, "that's the girl I'm going to marry." He hadn't even met me yet! He knew what he wanted and went for it. It took me a lot longer to get to that point, but here we are...basically 14 years later {crap that makes me feel really old!!}! We've been married for seven years and I am so glad that he saw me and knew what he wanted from the get-go. :)

came across your blog and am perusing your old posts.

I met my husband at work. 18ish years ago. We dated very briefly then. But I decided he was too old for me (he was almost 30 after all - and I was only 20). And he was divorced and had a kid. Too much for me to handle. But we remained friends. And would hang out and stuff. and then we stopped hanging out - and would occasionally touch base every few years. Three years ago in October he called me to see how I was doing (an advantage to working at the same place for so long is that people can find you) - and we talked, and texted - and the rest is history. We got married last summer. It took us long enough! It's our own little when harry met sally story :)

I have a POF account! I've had it for about a month, but haven't really told too many people about it. I originally got it because I'm looking to move in a year and figured it would be a great way to meet new people.

I've met two people off the site so far. One intentionally and the other, we bumped into each other!

I'm so relieved to know someone who has had positive results from the site!

:)
